The patient, who seemed to be mentally unstable, identified himself as Shubhankar, resident of Nadia district in West Bengal.
The minister told Coastaldigest.com that he came to know about the predicament of the north Indian youth through a local resident during his visit to Mangaluru on the day of Bharat Bandh.

I thought I must help him on humanitarian grounds and made armaments to admit him to Wenlock,” he said, adding that in case of need the patient would be provided advanced treatment in Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru.
