Bengaluru, Oct 7: The CID has sought the cancellation of bail granted to Raghaveshwara Bharathi, the head of Ramachandrapura Mutt, who has been accused of rape. The seer had missed the date with the CID for medical examination last week. The CID said since the pontiff was not co-operating in the investigation, his bail should be cancelled.
The CID filed the application before the 51 Additional City Civil Sessions Court. It had summoned the seer for the potency test at Victoria Hospital on September 30. But he didn’t turn up and instead sent a letter stating his writ petition against the CID notice was pending before the High Court. The CID application stated the pontiff had violated one of the main conditions laid down by the court while granting bail An officer said the matter may be heard on Wednesday.
‘Witnesses intimidated’
The Ramakatha singer, who has accused the seer of raping her, claimed on Tuesday he was intimidating the witnesses.
Premalatha and her husband Diwakara Shastri made a complaint to the government panel on safety of women and child. Shastri said the seer’s followers were threatening the witnesses on social media. The swami himself has been making provocative speeches.
