Bengaluru, Nov 1: Two pedestrians were killed in the midnight when a drunk 36-year-old software engineer ploughed his car into them on a footpath on the Kasavanahalli Main Road near Madiwala in south Bengaluru.
The incident occurred around 12.30 am on Saturday when Singh was returning home in his car in an inebriated condition, police said.
Two daily wage earning workers V Mala, 42, and her relative Chinnappayyappa, 48, were identified as the victims. The two were returning home from Church.
The car that was being driven rashly, jumped onto the footpath and moved down Mala and Chikkappayyappa, police said.
“We have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 of the IPC against Singh who has been arrested. We found that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation are under way,” a Madiwala traffic police official said.
