Mangaluru, Nov 3: Police rescued four photo journalists after they were gheraoed by the agitating family members of the prison clash victims on Monday near the mortuary of Government Wenlock Hospital.
The journalists claimed that the family members of Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty who were hacked to death in Mangaluru prison, tried to attack them when they tried to take their photographs staging a protest near the mortuary.
A large number of people, including family members of Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty had gathered at the mortuary since Monday morning.
They wanted the police to show the bodies of the victims. Around 5 p.m., people became restless and started to raise slogans against the police.
Four photo journalists including a staff photographer of coastaldigest.com started taking photographs and videos of their protest. Some among the protesters objected to this and pounced on the photo journalists.
They pulled their shirts, pushed them aside and tried snatching the cameras. The policemen rushed to separate the photo journalists from the crowd and sent them inside the mortuary.
