Udupi, Sep 24: Pramod Madhwaraj, Karnataka state minister for fisheries and youth services, has urged Radha Mohan Singh, union minister for Agriculture and farmers' welfare to release the balance amount of central assistance for fisheries harbour projects in the state.
Mr Madhwaraj, who called on the union minister at latter's office in Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi requested him to retain the earlier central assistance pattern of 75:25 for infrastructure projects.
He also urged to organise conference of fisheries ministers of coastal states to evolve uniform policies for sustainable development of marine fisheries at Bengaluru in November or December this year.
A release stated that after a detailed discussion, Mr Singh agreed to examine the issues and take immediate favourable action.
Devendra Chaudhary IAS, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, S R Umashankar IAS, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, H. S. Veerappa Gowda, Director of Fisheries and Dr. C. K. Murthy, Joint Director of Fisheries were present during the meeting.
