Madikeri, Sep 29: The case pertaining to the alleged suicide of Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathi took a curious turn on Thursday after his son Nehal Ganapathi abstained from filing objections to the CID report.
The CID submitted a B' report to the court on September 19, absolving the three. The court had given time to the complainant to file objections, if any, before September 29.
However, Mr. Nehal, who appeared in the court, refused to file any objections. Ganapathi's brother Machaiah, father, Kushalappa, mother, Poovamma, and sister Sabitha appealed to the court to implead them in the case. The hearing was adjourned till October 24.
Later, speaking to mediapersons in Madikeri, Mr. Nehal clarified that he was pursuing his studies, and he could not devote much time to attend court proceedings.
However, Mr. Kushalappa averred that he was prepared to fight the case and would approach the Supreme Court, if need be, in quest for justice. Mr. Machaiah said Mr. Nehal's decision to withdraw from the case was his individual decision.
It may be recalled that Mr. George, who had resigned from the ministry after being named in the FIR, has been re-inducted into the State Cabinet after he was given a clean chit by the CID. With Mr. Nehal not filing objections to the report, Mr. George had crossed one more legal hurdle.
