Early in the morning today, he posted on Twitter a recording of an 'azaan', a call for Muslims to attend namaz in the mosque. This one, too, was broadcast.
Nigam doesn't say in his tweet where he recorded this particular 'azaan' from and on what day. All he says is "Good morning India."

Last week, the singer posted several tweets talking unfavourably about, in general, religion-related material being broadcast over microphones and "forced religiousness." There was a huge uproar with many saying he was insulting religion or Muslims or both, and many talking about his hypocrisy as he, too, has performed devotional songs, on microphones, at all-night Hindu religious events.
Here's one from his Facebook page. He doesn't say here whether he sang all night, but 'Mata ki Chowki' is usually an all-night affair and usually over microphones.
A lot of water has flown under the bridge, as it were, since then. He's has had a 'fatwa' issued against him, he's clipped his hair in response, he's stood by his tweets, endured trolling and given it back to trolls.
After today's tweet, be prepared for a 'rinse, repeat' of the above.
