Mangaluru, Apr 25: At a time when people across the country are demanding repeal of draconian laws, a leader of Social Democratic Party of India has suggested that those who oppose constitution should be murdered ruthlessly.
“I am saying this...SDPI is saying this... garland those who oppose constitution with footwear, then shoot and kill them. I will not withdraw this statement at any cost,” said Haneef Khan Kodaje, Daskshina Kannada district unit president of SDPI.
He was delivering the presidential address at a public programme in Ullal town in Mangaluru taluk on Tuesday evening organised by the SDPI as part of its nationwide campaign ‘Unite Against the Politics of Terror’.
Interestingly, at the same programme, A Sayeed, the national president of SDPI, slammed the draconian laws through which Muslims, Dalits and tribals are being harassed in the country.
Accusing the incumbent Congress government of Karnataka of helping to grow fascist elements, he said that communal forces are torturing and killing progressive thinkers and human rights activists in the state. He also called the killings of Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and M M Kalburgi as acts of saffron terrorism.
Urging the young generation of all the communities, especially Muslims, Dalits and backward classes to unite and prepare for another freedom struggle, Sayeed said the biggest enemies of the country are the communal forces.
“We are in a dangerous situation. Those who are raising their voice for their constitutionally guaranteed rights are being branded as anti-nationals. Unfortunately, media too has joined hands with the rulers and is spreading false news,” he lamented.
Athaulla Jokatte welcomed. Ashraf Manchi proposed vote of thanks. Iqbal Bellare and Zahid Malar compered the programme. SDPI leaders Koosappa, Siddeeq Puttur, Iqbal MI were present among others.
