Srinagar, Nov 25: Two militants and a soldier were killed on Friday in a gunfight with the security forces in north Kashmir's Bandiporadistrict.
"With the break of dawn, the flushing out operation was started when the hiding militants opened indiscriminate fire causing critical injuries to a soldier, who later succumbed," a senior police officer said.
Two militants were also killed in the operation, he said.
Firing exchanges have stopped in the area, but a combing operation is on.
In another operation in Tujjar village of Baramulla district, security forces surrounded a house where a local militant was hiding. He later surrendered before the law enforcing agencies.
"Surrender of one local terrorist has been accepted at Tujjar, Sopore," an Army official said.
The official said Army calls for other misguided local youth to shun path of violence.
This is second incident of surrender by a militant in Sopore area this month after being cornered by the security forces.
