Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan dies at 74

New Delhi, Oct 8:Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today passed away at the age of 74.

Paswan who recently underwent heart surgery at Delhi's Fortis hospital, passed away late on Thursday.

Paswan, a veteran politician from Bihar, was the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

He was an eight-time Lok Sabha member and current Rajya Sabha MP. 

He had been in active politics for more than five decades and is one of the country's noted Dalit leaders.
