Mangaluru, Nov 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi should learn from former PM Indira Gandhi, who accepted all sorts of criticism, said Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader.
Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of Indira Gandhi organized by district Womens' Congress, the minister said that the late PM was a leader of the masses and also the most famous woman leader in the world.
“She was open to all sorts of criticism. The present PM is hesitant to accept criticisms unlike her. People who speak against the PM are punished," he alleged.
Mr Khader said that Indira Gandhi was instrumental in bringing revolutionary changes in the lives of poor and downtrodden.
He added that instead of blaming Congress, the Mr Modi should revert by offering pro-poor and people-friendly programmes.
He said that the Congress-led state government is offering seven kilograms of rice to a family every month which is not done in any of the BJP-led state governments like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP claims that the fund used for 'Anna Bhagya' is allotted by the central government. He questioned why BJP-led states don't want to initiate such a programme. It is high time for the BJP leaders to clarify the doubt. He said the government is also planning to offer milk to the poor families.
