Mangaluru, Jan 31: In a happy news for expatriates from coastal Karnataka in Saudi Arabia, Jet Airways is all set to launch its flight service between Mangaluru and Dammam within two months.
The flights will operate via Abu Dhabi every day.
With this the country's second-biggest international airline is poised to break the monopoly of government owned Air India Express on Mangaluru-Saudi sector.
As per tentative schedule, one of the two flights bearing numbers 9W549 and 9W501 will depart from Dammam at 3:10 a.m. local time and reach Mangaluru at 1:45 p.m.
On return journey flights bearing numbers 9W502 and 9W550 will depart from Mangaluru International Airport 5:40 p.m. local time and reach Dammam at 10:25 p.m. local time.
Expatriates from coastal Karnataka in Saudi Arabia have welcomed the Jet Airways decision to start daily flights between these two destinations paving the way for a possible price war.
On the other hand, Mangaluru International Airport Director J T Radhakrishna has said that he has not yet received any information about the start of Jet Airways flights to Dammam. More details to follow.
