Mangalore, Oct 10: Mamatha Poojary, the skipper of India's national women's Kabaddi team which bagged gold medal in Asian Games 2014 was accorded a ceremonious welcome on her arrival at Mangalore International Airport.
Mamatha, who came home for the first time on Friday after receiving Arjuna Award by President Pranab Mukherjee in recognition of her achievements in Kabaddi, hugged, hugged her parents. She was wearing the Indian team blazer on a blue jeans.
Besides her parents - Bhooja Poojary and Kitty Poojary- her brother Vishwanath Poojary and other family members and friends were also present at the Airport to welcome one of the greatest Kabaddi player India has ever produced. Mamatha's husband Abhishek Kotian also was present with her.
Mamatha, who hails from a village in Karkala taluk of Udupi district, had also led the India's national women Kabaddi team in previous Asian Games held in China (2012), and Kabaddi world cup and secured gold medals.
Mamatha is currently employed by the south railways. She finished her schooling in Hermunde and Ajekar and graduated from Gokarnatha College, Mangalore.
