Mumbai, Jun 22: Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan will be the leading lady opposite superstar Aamir Khan in "Laal Singh Chaddha".

The film, inspired by Paramount Pictures' Tom Hanks-starrer "Forrest Gump", marks Aamir and Kareena's third collaboration after "3 Idiots" and "Talaash".

"Secret Superstar" helmer Advait Chandan is directing the film, while actor Atul Kulkarni is attached as a writer.

"Forrest Gump", directed by Robert Zemeckis, is a 1994 American comedy-drama film based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom.

The story depicts several decades in the life of Forrest Gump (Hanks), a slow-witted but kind-hearted man from Alabama who witnesses and unwittingly influences several defining historical events in the 20th century in the United States.

"Laal Singh Chaddha" is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Studios said to be able to adapt the classic for Indian audiences "is a long-cherished dream for many of us".

"Knowing Aamir's burning passion for this subject for many years, he is the perfect partner to bring to life this dream. I also want to thank Jim, Andrew and the wonderful team at Paramount Pictures for believing in our vision and continuously supporting all endeavours to bring some of their best content to the Indian markets" Andhare said in a statement.

Andrew Gumpert, Chief Operating Officer of Paramount Pictures added, "We're thrilled to be in business with Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, and to see them bringing this timeless story to a whole new generation of audiences."

"Laal Singh Chaddha' will hit the theatres on Christmas 2020.

IT Department raids Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, others in tax evasion probe

Mumbai, Mar 3: In a massive action against the big Bollywood personalities, the Income Tax department on Wednesday carried out searches at the premises of noted film Director Anurag Kashyap, actor Taapsee Pannu and filmmaker Vikas Bahl.

An I-T department source related to the probe told IANS, "Searches are on at the premises of Pannu, Kashyap and Bahl in Mumbai and other locations."

The source, however, refused to share further details of the case.

The source further said that multiple teams of the agency sleuths were carrying out searches at over 22 locations in Mumbai and several other places, including the premises of the Phantom Films.

However, officials of the I-T department remained tightlipped on the searches at the premises of Phantom Films.

According to another I-T department official, the searches are going on at the premises of these Bollywood personalities in connection with some "tax evasion" matter.

Kashyap, Bahl and Pannu have been vocal on the social media platforms and have also raised their concern over the farmers' protest, which have been going at the borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three farm laws.

Washington, Feb 26: Actor Emma Watson, who rose to fame by playing Hermione Granger in the popular 'Harry Potter' franchise, has been recently making headlines after it was reported that the star has retired from acting. However, it seems like the rumour mills have got it all wrong.

As per Entertainment Weekly, the actor's manager cleared the air, putting an end to all such reports doing the rounds. Her manager, Jason Weinberg, denied the rumours, telling the publication in a statement, "Emma's social media accounts are dormant but her career isn't."

The 30-year-old star's Instagram account bio currently reads, "Emma's official Instagram page is currently dormant and is not being updated," while her profile picture is a simple black icon.

The actor had started trending on Thursday after an online report by a leading outlet alleged that Watson had retired from acting, leaving her fans distressed.

The news hurt Watson's fans who took to social media to remember her work. One fan claimed that her career didn't get enough appreciation while another wrote, "She is one of my favs but it's okay as long as she's happy with her decision."

"Emma Watson retiring is something very personal to me. No, I will not be getting over this," tweeted another fan.

Watson was last seen in Greta Gerwig's 2019 film 'Little Women' opposite Saorise Ronan, Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep. She also acted in the 2017 thriller drama 'The Circle' and 'Beauty and the Beast', which released in the same year.

In November last year, she made a rare public outing with her boyfriend Leo Robinton in London while grabbing coffee and walking around the city's Primrose Hill neighbourhood. Their outing came over a year after the two were first spotted together in October 2019.

Watson's beau Robinton was first identified in April of this year and is a businessman from Los Angeles, though little else is known about him. He reportedly deleted all of his social media after photos of the two sharing a kiss surfaced last year.

The couple has rarely been seen together since, though they appear to be going strong based on the recent outing.

Amitabh Bachchan hints at undergoing surgery for a medical condition

Mumbai, Feb 28: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared that he has a "medical condition" for which he needs to undergo a surgery.

It is unclear if the medical procedure is complete.

In a one-line, cryptic message on his personal blog, the 78-year-old actor gave an update to his fans and followers.

"medical condition .. surgery .. can't write (sic)" Amitabh Bachchan wrote on Saturday.

The actor recently shared the details about the projects his family members -- wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan -- were currently working on.

Amitabh Bachchan had also said he would soon start shooting for filmmaker Vikas Bahl's next.

The screen icon was last seen in Shoojit Sircar's "Gulabo Sitabo", which had a digital premiere last year in the wake of the coronavirus-induced shutdown.

One of the busiest stars in the Hindi film industry, Amitabh Bachchan was recently shooting for "MayDay", directed by and starring Ajay Devgan.

The veteran actor, who regularly keeps in touch with his followers whom he calls his 'extended family' via social media, was also one of the first Indian film personalities to be diagnosed with coronavirus last year.

Amitabh Bachchan, along with Abhishek Bachchan, 45, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 47, had tested positive for COVID-19 in July 2020. His granddaughter, Aaradhya (nine) too had contracted the virus.

They were admitted to a private hospital here for treatment and were discharged later.

Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in sports-drama "Jhund", directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, which debuts in theatres on June 18. His other release for the year, "Chehre", will open theatrically on April 30.
