Bengaluru, May 21: The State government has declared a holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act in jurisdictional gram panchayat limits on May 29 and June 2 to facilitate the electorate to exercise their franchise during the panchayat polls.
According to an official notification, employees in public sector and private industries, commercial establishments, educational institutions, and daily wagers in the panchayat limits, are eligible for paid leave.
Officials on election duty should also ensure that holidays to schools (where booths will be set up), a day before the polls, to facilitate preparations.
Mysuru, Chikkamagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Udupi, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Haveri, Bagalkote, Uttar Kannada, Dharwad, and Gadag will be going to polls on May 29.
Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Chitradurga, Davangere, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Bidar, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Yadgir,?Raichur, and Koppal districts will go to polls on June 2.
