
Louis Lobo, President of the KORWA said that said that being state owned and low-cost air carrier, Air India should have social obligations towards NRIs from this region.
“We are dismayed at the decision. It will have disastrous effects on thousands of expatriates who travel from Mangalore,” he said.
Air India Express, the suspended its only flight service between Mangalore and Kuwait from February 13. It was operating this Kochi-Mangalore-Kuwait sector thrice a week.
The members also urged Mr Lobo to look in to this matter and put pressure on the civil aviation ministry, union ministers, MPs and other private airlines to restore the service or to introduce any other private airlines as soon as possible to ensure that the NRIs from this do not suffer on account of sudden withdrawal of Air India express service.
A copy of memorandum was also sent to Civil Aviation Minister Ajith Singh and other officials.
