Mangaluru, Nov 13: Lakhs of devotees have started pouring into Dharmasthala to be a part of the grand Lakshadeepotsava, an auspicious celebration of Karthika masa. The week-long celebrations were off to a colourful start at the temple town on Monday with Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade participating in the Hosakatte Utsava.

The entire Dharmasthala was illuminated to celebrate the festival even as a troupe of 10,000 devotees already reached the abode of Manjunatha by Padayatra from Ujire in the evening. The celebrations would culminate with Samavasarana Puja to Chandranatha Swamy on Saturday.
The devotees, after taking a holy dip in Netravathi River, will have a darshanam of the presiding deity Lord Shri Manjunathaswami. Meanwhile, the devotees seek the blessings of Dharmadhikari and later, receive prasadam in Annapoorna Bhojanalaya and return to their places with a contented mind.
Every year, during Lakshadeepotsava, renowned scholars, litterateurs and artists feel privileged to be the part of the conventions.
The temple administration started Sarvadharma Sammelan and Sahitya Sammelan on the occasion of Lakshadeepotsava since 1933 when Late Manjayya Heggade was the Dharmadhikari. The 85th session of the sammelans are slated for November 16 and 17.
