Mangalore, Sep 21: The city of Mangalore woke up to a shocking news on Sunday. A senior employee of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (MESCOM) was found murdered at his residence at Bejai in the city.
Jagadish Rao (55), an executive engineer at MESCOM, was silenced by a two intruders when his family members were asleep.
It is learnt that two unidentified assailants gained entry into the house of Rao in the wee hours of Sunday and slit his throat before fleeing the scene. Rao's wife Bharati, woke up on hearing noise witnessed her husband lying unconscious on ground. She also noticed two men fleeing.
When Bharati began to scream neighbours rushed to help her. Even though Rao was immediately rushed to a hospital, doctors pronounced him brought dead.
A team of police led by DCP (law and order) Dr K V Jagadish visited the house and conducted spot investigation. A dog squad was brought in and fingerprint experts also scanned the place.
The body was shifted to Wenlock hospital for post-mortem. Kadri police are investigating the case.
