Bengaluru, Nov 10: Burying internal differences among BJP leaders and exerting pressure on chief minister Siddaramaiah to drop Bengaluru City Development Minister K.J. George from the cabinet before the commencement of 10-day legislature session in Belagavi are among the prominent decisions taken by the saffron party leaders during their core committee in Mangaluru on Thursday.
In the meeting BJP's election in-charge for Karnataka Assembly polls Prakash Javadeka raised the issue of BJP state leaders failing to fight against the Congress-led government in Karnataka.
"The failures of the state BJP were visible in the motorbike rally, the Parivarthana Rally and also the fights against Minister K J George and Ministers who were raided by the IT sleuths in Karnataka," said Javadekar. He has warned that if the BJP shows poor performances then the party would find difficult to come to power.
The BJP leaders also introspected over the failure of the launching ceremony of Parivartana Ratha Yatra in Bengaluru on November 2 wherein empty chairs had welcomed their national president Amit Shah. They decided to work hard to make the mass convention and motorbike rally at Hubballi on December 21 as part of the Yatra a success.
Briefing reporters after the party's core committee meeting here, Aravinda Limbavalli, member of the committee deliberated on the Ganapathi case in length. "It has been decided at the meeting not to rest till such time that George steps down or CM sacks him from his ministry," Limbavalli said, adding the onslaught will start from day one of the session. "If the government wants issues of public importance to be deliberated on, George must go by then," he said.
The core committee also decided to extend time for ongoing booth strengthening activities up to November 30. "The voters list has been released in many places and party has already appointed booth level agents to vet the list and strive to ensure that eligible voters are added and omissions and commissions in the list addressed," he said. Party will meet target of adding 20 new backward classes and dalits to existing booth workers in each of the booths under this activity.
With sub-committees to finalise names for upcoming polls to teachers and graduates constituencies yet to be framed, the core committee did not finalise names for these constituencies in the state legislative council. "State party chief B S Yeddyurappa will for these sub-committees at the earliest and they will meet. The names will follow due processes in the party before the party's central committee clears them," he said adding no specific names were discussed.
