Mangaluru, May 11: A village accountant from Thumbay gram panchayat in Bantwal taluk has committed suicide at a lodge in Mangaluru.
33-year-old Chidananda, who consumed poison in the lodge, has left behind a suicide note in Kannada language.

However, he stated that severe depression and perdition by an astrologer persuaded him to take the extreme step. He said that after an astrologer predicted that his son will have an early death he lost his peace of mind and his depression worsened.
Chidananda, who hails from Mysuru, had been working for revenue department for almost a decade. He had also worked in Alike, Kasba and Mysuru before being transferred to Thumbey.
Along with his wife Chaitra and son Samruddh, he was living in a rented house in B Mooda.
Police sources said that Chidananda had gone missing after he met his friend Shivappa in B C Road on Friday and told him that he was going to Mysuru.
However, on Sunday, Chidananda was found dead in a lodge. After post mortem, the police handed over the body to his family members.
Even though it appears to be a suicide case, a thorough investigation would be carried out and the death note would be analyzed, assured K U Belliapap, the circle inspector of Bantwal police station.
