Manipal, Sep 11: The District and Sessions Court has adjourned the hearing in the Manipal gang-rape case till October 14.
The development comes after the state government approached the Supreme Court with a Special Leave Petition against the order of the High Court to examine the remaining witnesses in the case.

Though the District and Sessions Court had earlier ruled that the examination of the remaining 16 witnesses was not necessary, the accused had approached the Karnataka High Court, which ordered that the remaining witness should be examined.
This matter was brought to the notice of the District and Sessions Court here during the hearing of the Manipal gang-rape case here on September 9, 2014.
The District and Sessions Court decided to wait for the orders of the Supreme Court and adjourned the hearing in the case to October 14.
A medical student of Manipal University hailing from Kerala was abducted and gang-raped near Manipal on June 20, 2013.
After a massive manhunt, the police nabbed three suspects Yogesh Poojary, Hariprasad Poojary, and Anand on June 27, 2013.
They were charged under Sections 366, 376D, 506 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
