Indo-UAE joint panel meeting tomorrow

Abu Dhabi, April 14: The high-level Indo-UAE 10th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) for economic, scientific and technical cooperation will take place in Abu Dhabi tomorrow.

S. M. Krishna, Minister for External Affairs, is leading a delegation of 20 representatives from different ministries of India, Indian Ambassador to the UAE M. K. Lokesh told Khaleej Times.

Lokesh said the JCM between India and the UAE is a very important event, which will be held here tomorrow.

There will also be a ministerial level meeting on April 16 to discuss bilateral issues and further the cooperation in economic, scientific, information and technical fields.

The Indian representatives will meet with their counterparts from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries during the two-day meeting, the ambassador said.

Both sides are expected to discuss various issues for promoting bilateral cooperation in the following fields: trade and investment; education, culture, youth and sports; health, science and technology, agriculture and environment; manpower; and energy, hydrocarbons, petrochemicals and fertilisers.

A memorandum of understanding on setting up a joint committee for consular affairs and a protocol to amend the India-UAE Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement are among the agreements likely to be signed during the JCM, the ambassador said.

Meeting of Indian ambassadors today

Before the JCM tomorrow, a meeting of all Indian ambassadors based in the GCC region will be held in Abu Dhabi today, Lokesh informed. The ambassador’s meeting is to be chaired by E. Ahmed, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs.
