Bengaluru Mar 2: Health and Family Welfare Minister K R Ramesh Kumar likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Adolf Hitler in a scathing attack on the BJP.

Kumar was speaking during the induction of more than 70 JD(S) leaders from Srinivasapura taluk in Kolar to the Congress. Kumar represents the Srinivasapura Assembly constituency. "Accusations and counter-accusations are common in politics, but I did not imagine the prime minister to stoop low. I thought he was a mature person. He gets some things said through (union minister) Anantkumar Hegde. This is like Hitler's behaviour," Kumar said. He also lambasted Hegde and Mysore-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for their controversial statements on the Constitution and Jawaharlal Nehru respectively.
"This country is not for sale or auction. Holding up the party's flag during elections will not be enough. The Congress is needed to save the country. We should work in this direction," Kumar said, addressing the new entrants.
JD(S) leaders V Srinivas,
B G Syed Khadar, Doreswamy Reddy, V Shankar among others joined the Congress. KPCC president G Parameshwara said the leaders have joined the Congress as "they were feeling suffocated in the JD(S)."
Minister loses cool
Kumar lost his temper when Congress workers were chattering aloud when Parameshwara was addressing them. He took the mike and screamed at them: "If you don't want to listen, just leave," he said. There was a huge rush of JD(S) leaders, who wanted to join the Congress.
