Mangalore, Aug 11: A man who was on the run for 13-long-years after allegedly killing his business partner was finally nabbed by the personnel of the district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB).
50-year-old Kodymbady Vishwanath Shetty is the arrested. He was arrested on the charges of killing Sootrabettu Vishwanath Rai and destroying the evidence by dumping the body near Honnavar before disappearing 13 years ago.
Briefing about the operation to media persons on Monday, Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa said that Vishwanath Rai alias Baddi Vishwa was running Shiva Finance' along with Vishwanath Shetty alias Panchami Vishwa alias Raju as manager of the firm. However, a financial dispute between the friends ended with murder on June 7, 2001 at a house near Gandhi Park in Uppinangady.
Shetty then disappeared from the scene after discarding the dead body. There were rumours that either he had committed suicide or settled in Dubai.
But Shetty settled in Bhawani, a town in Tamil Nadu, and worked as driver for a hospital. He was running Raj Finance and Chit Fund' and popularly known as 'Raju Tambi'.
Based on the reliable information the sleuths of DCIB and Uppinangady police went to Irode in Tamil Nadu and arrested him.
