Ghaziabad, Jul 24: A Muslim man was brutally beaten up by a group of hardliners yesterday at a Ghaziabad court. His “crime” was coming forward to marry his female Hindu friend. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
According to reports, the guy is from Bhopal and the girl belongs to Bijnore district in Uttar Pradesh. They worked together in a Noida company and fell in love. Since their parents were not agreeing, they planned court marriage. Subsequently, they went to a marriage registrar's office in Ghaziabad court. There they were talking with an advocate about the procedure to be followed to get married officially. Suddenly out of blue, a group of men arrived who alleged that the man has conned the lady to marry him.
They started brutally thrashing the guy. Luckily, police appeared and managed to rescue the couple who were frisked away from harm's way to Sihani police station.
While the couple didn't want to register any case, police have suo-moto taking cognizance and has filed case against unknown persons. Case has been filed under IPC section 147 (rioting), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
