Mangaluru: Gold worth Rs 44 lakh recovered from the rectum of passenger from Dubai

Mangaluru, Jan 21: A passenger from Duabi was arrested at 800 grams of gold was seized from his possession by the customs sleuths at Mangaluru International Airport today.

The gold seized from the passenger was of 24k purity gold valued at Rs 44.2 lakh.

The passenger had concealed the gold in his rectum in paste form, said Joannes George, joint commissioner of Customs.

George said that Customs sleuths intercepted one Ubaid Baliyath Azeez, a resident of Madikeri. He arrived at Mangaluru airport from Dubai by Air India flight IX 1814. 

On thorough search, the sleuths found that the passenger had concealed gold in paste form in his rectum. About 800 gram of 24k purity gold was recovered from his possession.
