Bantwal, March 15: In a bizarre incident, unknown thieves have stolen gold jewellery from the vanity bag of a woman, while she was travelling in a private bus on Tuesday afternoon.
Mohini, a 28 year old resident of Manila Taridala, who works at a company in Baikampady near Mangalore, has lost her gold necklace, ear-ring, finger ring and bangle, onboard Vitla-Pakkalakunja bus.
Thieves have used blade or some other sharp thing to cut her bag when she was standing amidst the rush. Although Mohini had got a seat after boarding the bus in Vitla bus stand, she vacated it for a mother and child on basis of humanity at the next stop and stood up. It is assumed that thieves might have stolen the jewellery at this time.
When the bus reached the Ukkuda stand, somebody noticed the ATM card of the woman lying on the floor of the bus and informed her. When she picked it up and put inside her bag, she found the bag slit and jewellery inside it were missing.
A case has been registered at Vitla police station.
