Activists sell fruits, vegetables challenging MCC's eviction drive

Mangalore, June 25: Activists and local leaders of all political parties sans BJP on Saturday staged a novel protest near city bus terminus hear against the Mangalore City Corporation's eviction drive.


Congress leader Vijay Kumar Shetty, JDS leader MG Hegde, leftist activist Sunil Kumar Bajal along with dozens of other political and social activists were seen selling fruits and vegetables between 3 pm and 4 pm.


However, unlike other days, the 'civic tiger' never approached to evict them.


“All parties, except the ruling party of MCC have joined the protest against eviction drive”, said Mr Bajal, who is also the honorary president of the Beedhi Badi Vyaparasthara Horata Samiti.


He said the Samiti would continue its struggle until MCC withdraws its operation civic tiger.
