Navaras Utsav and Kargil Vijay Divas' to be held on July 26

Mangalore, July 20: Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL), a city based NGO will organize Navaras Utsav and Kargil Vijay Divas at Don Bosco Hall in the city on July 26.

The programme will be a blend of cultural extravaganza, launch of social projects, and felicitations to war veterans, according to Sachitha Nandagopal, Director of the CIL.

Addressing the media persons at Press Club here on Wednesday, she said that Navaras Utsav would be the platform for people from different walks of life to showcase their talents with the objective to bring people together through dance.

The one of the wings of CIL, 'Navaras Hobby Dancers Club' will be presenting this Utsav, she said. The amateur artists would perform on one stage with the theme “Colors of India” depicting cultural diversity of the country. Participants from blind schools, orphanages, and old age homes, students, professionals, and housewives would present their talents, she said.

Abdul Basith, President of Creative Resources to Empower Society Today (CREST), the youth wing of CIL said that in its effort to inculcate a sense of national pride and patriotism among youth and children, CIL will commemorate Kargil Vijay Divas by recognizing and felicitating war veterans from Mangalore. The war veterans include Colonel NS Bhandary, Brigadier N Rai, and Wing Commander Dev Rao Belle, who have served in the Indo-Pak war of the 1970s and have served the Indian forces on different fronts.

A unique environmental friendly CREST Bag project will be launched on the occasion to celebrate the first anniversary of CREST, said Mr Basith. He said, “These bags are unique because they are prepared by the inmates of Mobility Centre for the Blind at Attavar from the old clothes collected from households in the city.”

Greeshma, Shalmali Ghate, and Keerthi Mohan of CREST were present at the press club.
