Bomb hoax creates panic at Udupi Sri Krishna Temple

Udupi, September 17: A phone call received at Sri Krishna Temple, here, on Friday midnight, warning the temple authorities of a bomb blast, turned hoax, after a thorough search at the temple premises by the bomb defusing squad.

The phone call made to the landline number of Sri Krishna Temple, at around 11.40 pm said that a bomb has been kept at the Kanaka Gopura, infront of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Temple authorities immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot and conducted search operations inside and outside the temple, including Rajangana and Car Street.

After three hour- long operation, as no explosive materials were found, police declared it to be hoax.

Following incident, metal detectors at the entrance of the temple has been activated and additional police force has been deployed.
