Mangalore, September 24: In a heartrending tragedy, an elderly woman and her middle aged son were found charred to death under mysterious circumstances in their house at Kallandadka village in Bantwal taluk late on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Bhavaniyamma (60) and her son Krishna (32), who were living together.
Local sources said that they were leading a poor life. Krishna, who was a drunkard, used to quarrel with his mother every day.
Although the exact reason for the tragedy is not known, neighbours are of the suspicion that the drunkard son might have set his mother on fire before committing suicide.
Bantwal Circle Police Inspector Anil Kulakarni and Vittla Sub Inspector Deekshith visited the spot along with constables on Saturday morning.
A case of suspicious death has been registered by Vittla Police and investigations are on.
