September 29, 2011

Mangalore September 29: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Employees INTUC Union urged the police to register a case against those who thrashed KSRTC drivers here recently.

General Secretary of the Union K S Rathnakar told media persons here on Wednesday that in two instances, public assaulted drivers on duty.

“If KSRTC staff commit mistakes there was a provision to lodge cases against them but the public con not take law into their hands”, he said.

He expressed disappointment that police had not registered an FIR against miscreants.

The Forum threatened to stage a severe protest if KSRTC drivers continued to be beaten by public.

He favoured a division-level selection system instead of a state-level system while appointing candidates to the post of drivers and a minimum qualification of SSLC to be relaxed up to seventh standard.
