Driver killed as lorry plunges into gorge

Bantwal, October 1: A driver lost his life while his tipper lorry plunged into a gorge near BC Road on Friday while transporting sand.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed (50), a resident of Talapadi.

Incident took place when he was returning to BC Road from Goodinabali near Paanemangalore after unloading sand, which he had brought from Farangipet.

It is said that the driver lost control over his vehicle and moved to extreme left near Rikshabhavan, and plunged into the gorge. The lorry had undergone a small repair near Goodinabali.

Mohammed succumbed to his injuries on his way to hospital. Bantwal town police have registered the case.
