Bhatkal, October 1: A fishermen was lost his life after he slipped into the Arabian Sea while working on board a fishing boat off the coast of Bhatkal on Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified as Nityanada Krishna Kharvi (29).
The fishing boat on which Kharvi was working, had ventured into the sea on the wee hours of Saturday.
It is said that the young fisherman accidentally fell into the sea while spreading net. Although fellow fishermen jumped to sea to rescue Kharvi, he remained untraced for several hours.
However, his dead body was recovered from the Banar area of Bhatkal in the afternoon.
A case has been registered in the Bhatkal rural police station.
