Jewellery, cash worth Rs 4 lakhs burgled

Kaup, October 4: In a major burglary, thieves broke in to the house of a jewellery shop owner near National Highway-66 at Udyavar, and made away with cash and jewels worth up to Rs.4 lakhs.

The thieves gained entry into the house of Krishana Acharya's house 'Navarathna' located in front of the petrol bunk, by breaking open the main door.

Six gold bangles, gold bracelets, necklace, chain, three gold rings, nose-ring and other gold ornaments that totally weighed up to 221.500 grams, kept in bedroom wardrobe has been stolen along with 200 grams of silver ornaments and Rs.15000 cash, said the house owner in a complaint.

Udupi SP Dr. Ravi Kumar, ASP Venkateshappa, Circle Inspector Cheluvaraju visited the spot and guided the investigation.

Kaup Sub-Inspector Mohan Kottari registered a case.

Finger print experts were called in and sniffer dogs were pressed into action under the supervision of Kaup crime branch Sub-Inspector Girish Kumar.
