Udupi, November 21: Two labourers working to deepen an open well died on the spot for the short of oxygen, in a land belonging to civil contractor Sathish, behind Muchlakodu Sri Subrahmanya Temple, Kukkikatte, near here on Monday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Surya (35) and Saravanan (27), natives of Dharmapuri in Tamilnadu. They had used a diesel pump to clear the water before digging it. The smoke emitted by the pump, produced carbon dioxide and they died failing to breath oxygen in.
Udupi police registered a case and investigating.
