Dalit leaders boycott meet with CM; accuse adopting a divide and rule policy

Mangalore, December 1: Accusing the government of adopting a divide and rule policy for Dalits, leaders of Dalit organisations on Wednesday walked out of the meeting convened by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

The meeting had been convened in the Vidhana Soudha to discuss the issues concerning dalits and their problems. Nine organisations had been invited.

Samata Sainik Dal State President M Venkataswamy objected to only a few organisations being invited. The chief minister said there was difficulty in inviting representatives of all the organisations.

Hence, he had decided to speak to only a few representatives. On hearing this, leaders of the organisations walked out, boycotting the meeting.
