Mangalore, July 20: Urging the government to go back to the older system of admission for 3rd and 5th semester polytechnic students, members of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a protest at Jyoti circle in Mangalore on Friday.

Forming a human chain, the students shouted slogans against the state government and demanded that the older system of admission be reintroduced for polytechnic admissions.

In a new circular issued by the government, students who have failed in four or less subjects are only eligible for admission for 3rd and 5th semesters. The government should have notified the students about this change prior to the examinations itself. The government must go back to the older admission procedure, the protestors demanded.

They also urged the government to address the lack of basic facilities in many polytechnics in the state.
