Mangalore, October 30: As part of a month-long nationwide campaign “Why Popular Front” against 'falsehood being propagated about the organization, Popular Front of India' will organise a massive public convention on November 2 at Nehru Maidan, Mangalore.
Announcing this at a press conference, here on Tuesday, PFI Karnataka State committee member Abdul Razak Kemmara said that a widespread conspiracy was being hatched to defame the organisation by external forces.
“PFI is falsely being linked with terror organisations such as HuJI. Misleading reports have also appeared in newspapers terming the accused youths arrested in Hubli as PFI members. Deliberate attempts are being made to portray the organisation in a bad light, while the agenda of PFI has always been to uphold constitutional rights. Hence, a nation-wide campaign was launched from October 10 to dispel such negative thoughts and baseless allegations made on the organisation,” he said.
Since its inception, the organisation has been stood for the cause of human rights and educational rights to all classes especially the Muslims. The month-long campaign 'Why Popular Front' aims at spreading awareness to the masses on the actual objectives of PFI. So far, programmes have been held in various parts of the country such as Chennai, Calicut, Delhi and Maharashtra to support this cause, he said.
In the convention to be held in Mangalore, PFI National general secretary K M Sharief and Karnataka State president Ilyas Mohammed Thumbe will deliver the key address. Khadim of Ajmer Dargah Syed Sarwar Chisty, Bahujan Samajwadi Party Karnataka State president Marasandra Muniyappa and national president of All India Imams Council Usman Baig will be the special invitees on the occasion, he said.
Around 10,000 members belonging to the organisation from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are expected to participate in the convention, he said.
PFI State committee member Ataullah A M, Dakshina Kannada district president Nazeer M H, DK district general secretary Abdul Majid B M and Bantwal taluk president Shahul Hameed were present at the press conference.
