Mangalore, November 6: Members of Dakshina Kannada district committee of Student Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest in front of Deputy Commissioner's office on Tuesday, condemning BJP National President Nitin Gadkari for his recent remarks about Swami Vivekananda.

SFI state secretary Jeevan Raj Kuthar said that the corrupt Gadkari was a leader of RSS, who wanted to divide the country on the basis of religion.

He has insulted Swami Vivekananda, who is a role model for students, by comparing his IQ to that of a underworld don like Dawood Ibrahim.

“On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary year of Swami Vivekananda, instead of propagating the ideals and principles he stood for, Gadkari has dishonoured the saintly leader. He is no less than a terrorist himself,” he said.

Lashing out at the BJP, he said that Gadkari making such derogatory statements against Swami Vivekananda showed the mentality and ideology of BJP.

“It will not be wrong to equate IQ of Gadkari to those of Dawood and Ajmal Kasab, as he has looted the country the same way they have terrorised it. He should immediately apologise to the people of the country for his remarks,” he demanded.

He warned of intense action against Gadkari in the next few days if he did not retract his statements.

Later, the activists burned the effigy of Nitin Gadkari to mark their protest.
