An official release said here that the minimum fare (up to the first 1.5 Km) had been increased to Rs.20 from Rs.17.
The fares for every kilo meter thereafter had been fixed at Rs.13, a Re.1 increase.
The auto-rickshaw drivers' unions had demanded a minimum fare of Rs.24 and per km rate of Rs.16 at a recent RTA meeting.
A release from the Regional Transport Authority said commuters would have to pay one-and-half times of the fare for travel between 10.pm and 5.am.
