Kasargod, December 24: A gang of nine robbers took away 42 sovereigns of gold ornaments worn by the members of a family after barging into their house at Kumbla, the police said on Sunday.
At around 8 p.m. the robbers entered the house of K. Rajesh Shenoy, who is running a transport office in Mangalore, and tied up the family members and used plaster to cover their mouths, the police said.
Mr. Shenoy's wife, father, mother, sister, daughter and two close relatives were in the house. The robbers used chloroform to make Mr. Shenoy unconscious, the police said.
They were in the house for about an hour and a half and left on hearing the sound of the vehicle of an acquaintance of the family members who had come to invite them for a ceremony.
