
Bantwal, December 29: In a tragic incident, a Class 10 student, unable to bear harsh school discipline committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Mani on Friday evening.
The victim has been identified as Kaushik, aged 16, son of Koragappa Mulya who is a resident of Nellimane. The boy was a student of Sri Rama Vidya Kendra at Kalladka, run by Sri Rama Vidya Kendra Trust of RSS leader Prabhakar Bhat.
On Friday, Kaushik had left to school after having been absent for two days prior owing to the temple fair being held near his home. Due to this, the teachers had apparently asked to meet his parents at school the next day.
According to the complaint lodged at Vittla police station, he is said to have hung himself with the help of his mother's saree. He had locked himself in the room before hanging himself at 6 p.m. in the evening.
The boy, being dull even in studies, is said to have taken the extreme step due to mental pressure. Vittla police have registered a case.
