Announcing this at a press meet on Tuesday Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon said that the aim of the beach festival was to encourage rural sports.
He said competitions such as boat race, flower and fruit-show, tug-of-war for men and women, dog show, on-the-spot drawing (primary school, high school and PU students, and general public), kite-flying, sand sculpting, one-mile race for men and women, fish catching, swimming, kabaddi, musical chair, and knotting coconut leaves would be held.
He said there would be an aquarium show, philately and numismatic exhibition, and fireworks display at night.
There would be cultural programmes on the beach near the Light House, he said.
Interested individuals and teams from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts may register their names by January 20.
