Mangalore, Jan 30: 'Ajisai' (Ice Breaker), 'Sagiso' (Best Manager), 'Asagao' (Marketing), 'Bijozakura' (Human Resource) and 'Oniyuri' (Finance) were the buzzwords at the two-day national level PG fest 'Innovision – 2013'.
Well, Mangalore got a pinch of Japan with the beginning of the fest themed 'Hanakotoba', named after the Japanese form of the language of flowers. The event was inaugurated on Wednesday at Besant Women's College, Mangalore.
Teams from 16 colleges participated in the commerce fest which was organised by the Department of PG Studies in Commerce at Besant Women's College.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank, Mangalore (Zonal Office) Mohammed Abdul Rasheed said that it was a 'myth' that recession was anti-development. It is a wrong notion that recession does not create opportunities. The fact is that it makes a consumer or an investor think twice about investing and makes them reduce their expenses.
Designating the inter-collegiate fest as a 'talent stunt', he said that every individual has own level of talent and understanding ability to distinguish right from wrong.
Sparkling trophies for winning teams in the fest were brought to the podium in a striking Japanese procession and unveiled by the chief guest to the cheers of the students.
Delivering the presidential address, president of Women's National Education Society Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy said that the fest was an opportunity to improve the innovative skills of students and prepare them for their careers. “You can reach greater heights if you have the aim and creative mind,” he said.
Dr Manjula K T welcomed the gathering and Shilpa delivered a vote of thanks.
