Moodbidri, Feb 10: The foundation stone laying ceremony for Daar-un-Noor Education Centre being established by Shaheed C M Abdullah Musliyar Foundation-Karnataka was held at Kashipatna near Moodbidri on Sunday.
The ceremony was followed by convention in which several religious leaders from Kerala and Karnataka took part.
Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, Kazi of Mangalore and honorary president of Daar-un-Noor in his presidential address called upon the Muslim leaders to spend their wealth in education sector.
“Providing both religious and material education to the children is responsibility of parents. Community leaders and organisations should establish more Islamic educational institutions in the region,” he said.
Sayyid Haider Ali Shihab Thangal Panakkad, who led the foundation stone laying ceremony, inaugurated the convention.
Haji Y Mohammed Kunnhi, president of Daar-un-Noor, welcomed the gathering. K I Abdul Khader, Secretary, delivered introductory remarks. Shaikhuna Kotumala Bapu Musliyar, Shaikhuna K P Abdul Jabbar Musliyar, Mitthabail, Al-haj V K Aboobakar Musliyar, Rahmathullah Khasimi Muthedam and Abdun-Nasir Faizi also spoke. D A Usman proposed vote of thanks.
Mulki-Moodbidri MLA K Abhayachandra Jain, Bantwal MLA B Ramanath Rai, Mangalore MLA U T Khader, were present among others.
