Mangalore, Feb 18: It is the opinion of many that former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda has been ignored and neglected in the state BJP circles. Now, it is believed that Gowda's closeness to JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda is the reason behind the BJP's attitude towards the prior.
However, former chief minister BSY's loyalists feel that BSY left BJP because of Gowda and this episode took place due to instigation by Deve Gowda. The closeness to Devegowda family is said to be the only reason why Sadananda Gowda is being sidelined in the BJP.
Time and again when the party had faced crisis, D V Sadananda Gowda had stood up for the party. Hence at the national-level, there is a strong consensus for making DVS the state BJP president. However, it is believed that the state level leaders have communicated to the national leaders, their opinion on the same and have supposedly also told them to make a decision only after understanding the state dynamics. This drift is said to be the reason behind the delay in appointing the state BJP chief's post.
The situation within the party is so bad for Sadananda Gowda that many have even titled him as 'Janardhan Poojary of BJP'. Sadananda Gowda has been holding press meets now and then just to make his presence felt. Not just at the state level, even in his own district, Gowda is believed to command scant respect. Meetings and conventions are being held without bringing it to his notice and Gowda is believed to have been invited to many such events for namesake.
