Mangalore, Feb 18: Senior BJP leader in Mangalore and former MCC mayor Shankar Bhat is evidently drifting away from the saffron party. If sources are to be believed then, Mr Bhat is believed to have told his dear ones that he would not be contesting the elections for MCC this time.
Mr Bhat who had been a loyalist of the BJP, slowly started remaining away from the limelight after his tenure as the mayor of the MCC.
However, it is said that Mr Bhat has decided to drift away from politics for personal reasons. Both of his sons are holding high-level posts in the Government and hence Mr Bhat wants to stay away from politics so that his political ventures do not pose an impediment to his sons.
Two more persons who have reportedly decided to remain away from election this time are Tilak Raj from Krishnapura ward and Yashawantha Meenakalya from Baikampady ward.
However, sources say that they might revoke their decision on the behest of pressure from leaders.
