Mangalore/Udupi, Mar 13: As per schedule, this year's second year pre-university examinations commenced on Wednesday across Karnataka including the twin coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 32,267 students from 170 colleges appeared for examinations today in 49 centres. A total of 15,480 students appeared in 26 centres across Udupi district. The examinations will conclude on March 28.
Students in various examination centres in Mangalore were seen going through the syllabus in the last few minutes before the first examination scheduled for today. Groups of students revised the important questions and memorised the ones likely to be asked. But, most were seen checking the notice boards for their register numbers and respective allotted seats.
In order to keep a check on malpractices, 10 teams have been formed by the PU Education Board, said Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada N Prakash.
The police department has been intimated with regard to imposing prohibitory orders on photocopying shops and centres within a radius of 200 meters of the examination centre. There is also a ban on using mobile phones and other electronic gadgets around the examination centres, said
Orders prohibiting assembly of five or more people within 200-metre radius from the second year PU examination centres from March 12 to March 28 have also been issued in Mangalore, said a press release by Commissioner of Police Manish Kharbikar.
