Mangalore, Mar 18: Coastaldigest.com, taking forward the demand of thousands of NRIs, has urged the Civil Aviation Ministry of India to consider the proposal for establishing direct aviation link between Mangalore and Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Jeddah.
After the Air India Express' decision to launch direct flight between Mangalore and Dammam, Non Resident Indians from South West Coast of India living in other parts of Saudi Arabia are eagerly awaiting the commencement of direct flight to Mangalore from Riyadh and Jeddah too.
Coastaldigest.com representative Mohammad Ashraf on Monday met Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ajit Singh and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal and handed them copies of feasibility study report on demanded airline routes. The duo was here to participate in the inauguration of the newly built air cargo complex at Mangalore International Airport.
In a goodwill gesture, Coastaldigest.com also handed over a thanksgiving letter to the ministry for giving Air India Express green signal to operate direct flights between Mangalore and Saudi Arabia.
Mr Ashraf conveyed the message of NRI individuals and organisations of Saudi Arabia, who have been overwhelmed by airline's decision to launch direct flight between Mangalore and Dammam.
He told Mr Singh that a number of NRI organisations in Saudi Arabia have expressed their gratitude to the Civil Aviation Ministry for clearing the hurdles to allow establishment of direct aviation link between two destinations. Mangalore MLA U T Khader was also present.
